Twenty years of the blood and sweat of your fellow soldiers who have fallen at the hands of this creature. by Lily Mayne Edin: M/M Fantasy Romance (Monstrous) (Paperback. This is the culmination of twenty years of intel, lost lives and millions of dollars. There are also graphic depictions of torture and violence. Soul Eater (Paperback, Independently published) 5 stars. Warning: This m/m love story contains explicit content and is not suitable for young readers. It is the first in a planned post-apocalyptic fantasy series featuring monsters and human men falling in love. Soul Eater is the debut novel of Lily Mayne. And when I'm the only soldier out of hundreds that the Soul Eater leaves alive, I realise that… something about me has intrigued him.īut what is it? What could a twenty-three year old guy from the south, with no one and nothing in the world, have possibly done to capture the attention of a death monster with horns, blackened fingertips and a face hidden in the dark depths of his hood? I've only been in the military for six months, but now I'm part of a unit tasked with trying to stop and capture him. He appears every three years, making his way across the country and slaughtering humans randomly, sucking them dry until they're nothing but husks. A lawless, desolate and dangerous place, teeming with monsters that have claimed the land for their own. One where humans live in military-controlled, cramped and dirty cities along the coasts, and the majority of the United States is known as the Wastes. Twenty years ago, monsters rose on earth and began a new age of civilization. Burton invites readers to discover anew the relevance of the biblical narrative for African Christians as well as Scripture's influence on African Christianity. Coming to the modern era, he examines the achievements of African Christianity and visionary efforts to adapt and reclaim Christianity for the African context. He then chronicles the African presence in the church from the New Testament onward, paying particular attention to the growth of Islam in Africa as well as the impact of European colonialism and the slave trade. Beginning with the Old Testament, he explores the geography of biblical Africa and moves beyond stereotypical discussions of African ethnicity and identity. In this comprehensive study, Keith Burton traces the story of biblical Africa and the place of the Bible in the land of Ham. Even today, modern misinterpretations of Scripture argue for God's curse upon the dark-skinned peoples of Africa. But African Christianity has had a long and conflicted history. According to some estimates, Africa will soon have the highest concentration of Christians in the world. 6/29/2023 0 Comments Lori rader day death at greenwayLondon and its inhabitants are suffering greatly from the daily bombings of the German planes, with whole families dying in their homes, despite the air raids and shelters. Is it little wonder I’ve been looking forward to reading Death at Greenway.Īfter a beginning chapter in which Agatha Christie is at Greenway with her husband and house staff listening to the radio announcement from Prime Minister Chamberlin that England was officially at war with Germany (the listening world encapsulated in that kitchen scene), focus is changed to London, April 1941. She brings the authenticity of having walked the house and grounds to this story. As part of her research, Rader-Day visited Greenway and stayed there. The setting is Agatha Christies’ Greenway home and South Devon, with London as the starting and ending points. Historical mystery fiction! Oh, but she doesn’t stop there with delighting me. Well, she actually leaps across the pond to merry old England when it wasn’t so merry during WWII. And, in Death at Greenway, Lori Rader-Day takes a leap into another whole pond. I’ve been introduced to dark sky parks, handwriting expertise, and a character who beat the odds of being kidnapped as a baby. I love that freshness, and the characters that help create that uniqueness. Lori Rader-Day always gives readers a unique story, something different from anything else they’ve read. 6/29/2023 0 Comments Rebellion by siobhan davisRead Book Here => Read Rebellion (The Sainthood - Boys of Lowell High, #2) Full Edition.ĭownload Book Here => Download Rebellion (The Sainthood - Boys of Lowell High, #2) Full Pages.īook Synopsis : Everything changed the night he betrayed me, and now, the game has entered a new level.Galen did me a favor, reminding me the only person I can count on is myself, and I?m more determined than ever to avenge my father?s death and avoid the destiny Sinner has mapped out for me.Saint is used to calling the shots, but there are new rules, my rules, and if he wants me in his life, and in his bed, he?ll toe the line. Maybe tomorrow morning I'll wake up and choose violence and round down, we'll see. I really expected more happy scenes between each couple and instead we got some heavy stuff and unnecessary fights & drama.īUTTTT despite all these issues that I have with this book, I still had a good time (mostly) reading this and I'm feeling generous right now to round up the 3.5 stars. These kind of conflicts can be handled in each couple's full lenght novel. If you decide to write additional novella for each couple, then I expect a lot of domestic fluff and not fights about important milestones like marriage, pregnancy, kids etc. The Legacy is not what I have in mind when I think of an epilogue novel(las). Love the idea of them being the first book in the series and then, the last book ending with their chapters, but Elle Kennedy did (all) the characters so dirty. So I actually re-read HannahGarrett's novella again and felt sooo disappointed. EDIT: I knew it was coming that one day I wake up and think about this book again and hate most about it. He repeated the movement – a grotesque one. He laughed and threw the bottle upwards with a gesticulation I did not understand. Another clue comes when Montresor fails to interpret a gesture made by Fortunato: Scott Fitzgerald, author of The Great Gatsby, put it: ‘Nothing is as obnoxious as other people’s luck.’Īlthough ‘Montresor’, the narrator’s name, suggests literally a ‘mountain of treasure’, the fortunate Fortunato still has the edge: as we know from such stories as Lawrence’s ‘The Rocking-Horse Winner’, money is worth little without luck, for luck is how one acquires more money (though hard work doesn’t go amiss, of course). First of all, there is Fortunato’s name, suggesting fortune (wealth) but also being fortunate (luck), two qualities which don’t tend to enamour people to you, even though one’s possession of one or both of them hasn’t necessarily harmed anyone else. There are several clues offered by Poe in the story which suggest this as a plausible analysis of Montresor’s character and motivation. 6/29/2023 0 Comments Tyrell coe booth full book onlineHis girlfriend Novisha is mad that Tyrell has dropped out of high school, but she still loves him & takes care of him when he needs it. From Red’s father and mother, newly arrived in Baltimore in the 1920s, to Abby and Red’s grandchildren carrying the family legacy boisterously into the twenty-first century, here are four generations of Whitshanks, their lives unfolding in and around the sprawling, lovingly worn Baltimore house that has always been their anchor.īrimming with all the insight, humor, and generosity of spirit that are the hallmarks of Anne Tyler’s work, A Spool of Blue Thread tells a poignant yet unsentimental story in praise of family in all its emotional complexity. Abby and Red and their four grown children have accumulated not only tender moments, laughter, and celebrations, but also jealousies, disappointments, and carefully guarded secrets. But they are also like all families, in that the stories they tell themselves reveal only part of the picture. The Whitshanks are one of those families that radiate togetherness: an indefinable, enviable kind of specialness. “It was a beautiful, breezy, yellow-and-green afternoon.” This is how Abby Whitshank always begins the story of how she fell in love with Red that day in July 1959. |
